McLean Wilson

McLean Wilson

Chief Executive Officer

McLean Wilson is a Founder and CEO of Spark Invest.  Mr. Wilson has extensive experience in alternative investments, asset based lending, asset management and capital raising for alternative investments, as well as operational experience with structured transactions, recourse and nonrecourse purchase agreements, back office operations, secured and unsecured transactions, negotiation, management and underwriting processes.

In addition to Spark Invest, Mr. Wilson is the co-founder and manager of Charleston Capital, an alternative asset management company based in Charleston, SC that seeks to generate attractive, absolute returns by opportunistically and tactically investing in areas where conventional sources of capital are disproportionately unavailable.

Prior, Mr. Wilson was Vice President of SouthStar Capital, an asset based lender primarily focused on factoring, where he assisted in the origination, structuring, closing and funding of over $500 million worth of factored assets. While at SouthStar, he gained experience with structuring collateralized and uncollateralized transactions, purchase and sale agreements, and recourse and non-recourse financing.  At SouthStar, Mr. Wilson also structured and funded numerous equipment lease and purchase order financing transactions.  Prior to this, Mr. Wilson was an investment advisor with ING Financial Partners and Money Concepts Capital Corporation with a focus on financial planning, portfolio management and investment planning.  Prior to be being an investment advisor, Mr. Wilson was a Civil Engineer with Thomas & Hutton Engineering.

Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering.  Additionally, Mr. Wilson is a registered investment advisor representative (passed the Series 65 Exam).


Caleb Goding

Managing Director

Caleb Goding is the Managing Director of Spark Invest.  Mr. Goding has extensive experience in accounting, business operations, asset management, complex financial planning and business consulting.  Over the past decade, Mr. Goding has served as CFO and advisor to several privately held companies, high-net worth families, and partnerships where he was responsible for all strategic financial decision making and reporting.

Prior to Spark Invest, Mr. Goding was a Managing Director for Roadstead Capital Partners where he was part of the investment strategy team and specialized in portfolio management and complex financial planning.  Before his time at Roadstead, Mr. Goding was a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC where he led the financial advisors in his peer group at the firm in advisory assets.  Prior to his time at Wells Fargo, Mr. Goding’s experience included performing corporate financial statement accounting at Enterprise Holdings, Inc. as well as serving as CFO for Landtech Inc.

Mr. Goding is a graduate of the University of South Carolina – Moore School of Business where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and double majored in Accounting and Management with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship.  Mr. Goding is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional or CFP® professional.  Additionally, Mr. Goding is a registered investment advisor representative (passed the Series 65 Exam).

Brian McFadden

Chief Analyst

Brian McFadden is Chief Analyst at Spark Invest.  Brian has experience in derivative valuation, model validation, balance sheet and income statement stress projections, project management and Anti-Money Laundering.

Prior to Spark Invest, Brian was a Senior Quantitative Advisory Service Consultant in Ernst and Young’s Advisory Financial Services Office, where he performed independent valuation analysis of a variety of esoteric over-the-counter derivative instruments spanning several asset classes; including fixed income, equity, credit, foreign exchange, and commodities.  During his time with EY, Brian also worked at various major financial intuitions assisting in the development and upkeep of model validation and documentation.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Delaware – Alfred Lerner School of Business where he earned a Bachelor of Science in finance.

Colby Billhardt

VP Business Development & Investor Relations

Colby Billhardt is the Vice President of Business Development and Investor relations and is responsible for the development of new investor relationships and maintenance of current investor relations. Colby has a diverse skill set with a background in New York luxury real estate having closed over $60,000,000 in sales representing buyers and sellers throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Prior to Spark Invest, Colby was a licensed real estate salesperson with Nest Seekers International and Brown Harris Stevens in New York City, having worked on a Top 5 Sales Team Nationwide ranked by the WSJ. As a highly skilled and accomplished real estate salesperson, she has expertise in all facets of sales, development, branding and project management.

In addition to her work experience, Colby spent two years as a Division 1 volleyball player at the University of Connecticut until a career ending injury forced her to resign from athletics. Although she no longer plays volleyball, she remains immensely competitive and understands the commitment, dedication and sacrifice needed to be a part of a successful team. While a D1 athlete and leader, she was still able to make the Big East All Academic team both years in addition to being an executive board member of the NCAA Student Athletic Advisory Committee and a member of the Nike Rebranding Committee. Following her transfer from the University of Connecticut, she graduated from the College of Charleston in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts.

Eric Wright brings nearly 20 years of technology leadership, strategy, and vision to any venture or endeavor. With a keen understanding and direct approach, Wright methodically guides his teams through technical challenges and organizational objectives. Whether evaluating organizational enterprise readiness or honing information security posture to pinnacle standards, Wright is adept at tactically steering tech companies through the perils of the startup endeavor into strong established entities.

Most recently, as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Questis (an international financial wellness technology platform), Wright consulted the organization through exhaustive Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 security and IT audits, ultimately proving the company’s technical competence to serve enterprise-level clientele.  In his senior role spearheading security management, Wright focused the organization toward achieving enterprise readiness and executing the technical strategic vision. While building a core engineering team, Wright maintained active oversight over all software engineering efforts, refining the development lifecycle, and led the design of a robust information security management system. In combining these objectives, Wright delivered a scalable, secure and performant infrastructure for the organization.

Prior to joining Questis, Wright served as the Senior Solutions Architect for PokitDok, a national API platform powering healthcare interoperability to improve the business of health. In this capacity, Wright cultivated the solutions and sales engineering team tasked with mastering the intricacies of enterprise-wide integration and implementation.

Wright also had the opportunity to support Strategic Operations Solutions (STOPSO) as its Principal of Cloud and Infrastructure Services. As a premier technology consulting and management company, STOPSO served various arms of the U.S. national security and Defense. In this capacity, Wright created and refined the company’s first cloud and infrastructure automation portfolio and software engineering team, foundational for both Commercial and Government sectors.


Kevin Maloney

Kevin Maloney is a serial entrepreneur, early-stage investor and experienced board director. He co-founded QuantumSphere, Inc. (QSI), an R&D company focused on industrial chemicals applications where he secured multiple patents, global commercial partners, and raised nearly $35 million in capital before merging with a publicly traded company in April 2014, and subsequently led the sale of QSI’s chemical patent portfolio in 2017.
He previously was vice president of institutional sales and marketing at First American Capital Management (NYSE:FAF) and Principal and Compliance Officer at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), an investment advisory firm with more than $1.5 trillion in fixed income assets under management. Mr. Maloney has been involved with eleven early-stage companies either as a co-founder, executive team member, or early stage investor and has consulted with and successfully raised more than $60 million in capital for private equity transactions ranging from bio-tech, chemicals, and batteries to software, media, mobile, consumer, fin-tech, health food, and real estate. Four of his private equity investments have delivered ROI or gone to liquidity events to date.
He has extensive public, private, and non-profit board experience and currently sits on the regional board for Gen Next, an organization focused on economic growth, education, and national security. He is also a member of the Angel Capital Association (ACA) and sits on the International Executive Committee for the Internet Marketing Association (IMA), which has a 20 year history and an established global network of more than 1 million professionals. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and Young President’s Organization (YPO) and has been awarded several U.S. patents. He earned his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He resides in Southern California with his wife and two young children and enjoys a wide range of water sports and other outdoor activities.
